伯明翰，阿拉巴马州的最大城市，是个大学城，以UAB为主，而UAB最大一块是医疗。所以很多人都从事和医疗相关的行业，而这里的学生也在还未踏出校门前就先在医院里实践了。
因此得以降低医疗成本，吸引外州的病人来就医，而小城市以人少地广的优势，吸引海外学生来求学甚至定居，也带动了整个城市的发展。这里有印度人，阿拉伯人，韩日中各种留学生。
而这种以大学(尤其是医学院）带动小城市发展的模式在美国遍地开花。孟菲斯的UT校园也是个很大的医疗城。
这里气候虽然比较热（但没有奥斯汀热），但植被很多，生活虽然没有大城市（相对来说奥斯汀是大城市了）便利，但基本设施肯定比很多亚洲国家好。问题就是周边没什么大城市，整个州都没有大城市，感觉被隔绝了。
可以想象漂泊异乡的游子在这个地方会有一种脱离感。

洛杉矶机场航站楼攻略

第一是各家航空公司的起降航站楼，买机票时可以考虑转机时需要走的线路。4-5-6-7-8航站楼是联通的，无需再次安检，步行可达。B（国际）航站楼和4有一条长通道联通。2-3是联通的。1则是不和别人联通。地图：

航站楼间可以搭乘免费巴士，这里可以看到实时车辆位置（选route–ADA shuttle或 airline connector），机场有免费wifi。8号航站楼有panda express,更适合中国胃。7号楼人最多，有羊角包汉堡咖啡之类的。免税店虽然免税，东西不便宜。

There are nine passenger terminals at LAX, connected by a U-shaped, two-level roadway. Most inter-terminal connections require passengers to exit security, then walk or use a shuttle bus to get to the other terminal, then re-clear security. A few LAX terminals provide airside connections, which allow connecting passengers to access other terminals without having to re-clear through security.

If you are transferring between airlines, there is a good chance that you’ll have to change terminals. If the terminals are adjacent, you can walk from one to the next, although you’ll have to go outside and go back through security. If you’re transferring more than one terminal away, you will probably want to take the Airline Connections A Bus airport shuttle that stops on the Lower/Arrival Level islands in front of each terminal under the blue sign. Other shuttles stop in the same spot, so be sure to look for the white and blue LAX Shuttle with “A” in the marquee under the blue LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections sign. The A Bus runs every 10-15 minutes, 24 hours a day.

If the airline has scheduled the connection, enough time for the transfer should be built in, and you should be able to check your bags through. If you are scheduling your own flights between two airlines, allow at least 3 hours if you have to collect your bags and re-check them at another airline.

If you’re arriving on an international flight and making a transfer to a domestic flight – even on the same airline, you will have to go through customs. You should be able to turn your bags back over to the airline just beyond customs for continuing itineraries booked as one flight. If the flights were booked separately, you’ll have to take the bags with you and check in again for your next flight.

印度之八：粉色之城斋普尔

斋普尔（Jaipur）是拉贾斯坦邦的首府，虽然名字发音和焦特普尔(Jodpur)有点相近，两个城市距离也不远，但是却是两个风格迥异的城市。斋普尔是一个现代化（至少是部分现代化）的大城市。虽然同样拥有自己完整的历史和文化，但它还有自己现代化的一面。城里有一个叫Raj Mandir的电影院，印度式装修，可惜没有进去再看一次印度歌舞片。印度之八：粉色之城斋普尔 - yww325 - 程序员
有空调公交车，足以说明这个城市的现代化。

老城区的入口，进入老城，就没有洋品牌和高大上，全是本地的老手工业店铺。

琥珀堡（Amber Fort)是14世纪末建造的斋普尔古都，一个建在山上的易守难攻的城堡，并且山恰好在主干道边上。扼守住来往的交通。从山顶可以俯瞰整个平原地区，包括现在的斋普尔城区。非常出色地建筑的一座城堡，可惜和之前的Fatehpur Sigri一样，这座城堡也因为缺水而被放弃了。事实再次说明，城堡再好，也不能带来繁华。人民生活高于君主的安全感。
